waiting game

So I'm currently submitting a kids' book series to publishers and agents. While waiting on responses, I'm doing what most writing-advice places recommend against: continuing to write an entire series when the first book hasn't been picked up yet. But the way I see it, to tell the entire story correctly requires several books, and to stop after the first one would feel incomplete. So I'm forging ahead and am now exactly halfway through the five-book series. Whether it's published or not, I still need to tell it, and it's been a lot of fun. If no publishers pick it up, I'll consider releasing it indie. But this might explain the delay since my last book release. Aside from returning to school and beginning a new career (day job, I mean), I've been working on several books at once. All while playing the waiting game. The life of a writer. It's a glorious thing.
